We collect information you provide, information generated by your use of LitReviewer, and information from service providers that help operate the service.

3. How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and improve LitReviewer.
- Authenticate users and protect accounts.
- Process uploaded papers and generate paper-derived artifacts.
- Provide AI-assisted replies, summaries, guides, and retrieval features.
- Meter usage, debit credits, process payments, and maintain transaction history.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate abuse, security incidents, fraud, and misuse.
- Respond to support requests and beta feedback.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. AI and model processing
LitReviewer uses third-party AI and infrastructure providers to process papers and produce AI-assisted features. Depending on the feature, excerpts from your uploaded papers, your annotations, thread context, prompts, and related metadata may be sent to those providers to generate outputs. We do not intentionally send payment card details to AI providers.
We do not use your private research content to train our own general-purpose AI models. If this changes, we will update this policy before using your content for that purpose.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:
- Service providers. We use providers for hosting, database, storage, authentication, email delivery, payment processing, AI/model processing, logs, monitoring, and error reporting.
- Payment processing. Payments are processed by Stripe. LitReviewer does not store full payment card numbers.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, LitReviewer, or others.
- Business transfers. If LitReviewer is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- With your direction. We may share information when you ask us to or when it is necessary to complete a feature you choose to use.
6. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including private storage for uploaded files, backend-mediated data access, restricted service-role credentials, request logging, and error scrubbing practices. No online service can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.
7. Retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as needed to provide LitReviewer, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse, and maintain backups. You may request deletion of your account or specific content by contacting us. Some information may remain in backups, logs, payment records, security records, or records we are required to retain.
8. Your choices and rights
- You may update certain account information in the product.
- You may request access, correction, export, or deletion by contacting us.
- You may stop using LitReviewer at any time.
- You may opt out of non-essential communications by following instructions in the communication or contacting us.
Some privacy laws, including California privacy laws, may provide additional rights such as access, deletion, correction, portability, and limits on certain uses of personal information. We will respond to applicable requests as required by law.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
LitReviewer uses cookies or similar browser storage for authentication, session management, security, preferences, and product operation. We may also use telemetry and error-reporting tools to understand product reliability and diagnose issues.
10. Children
LitReviewer is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
11. International users
LitReviewer is operated from the United States. If you access LitReviewer from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the service, by email, or by another reasonable method. The updated policy will be effective when posted unless stated otherwise.
